Happy #InternationalNonBinaryDay 🤍 today is about reclaiming an identity that was erased and criminalized from our culture. It’s important that we are visible in all of our communities because there’s no one way to non-binary. Many times people associate us with strictly being androgynous. We come in all shapes, sizes, styles and colors! Being non-binary and gender non-conforming is about not fitting into the binary...and who wants to do that anyways? I’m not into limitations! 🙅🏽‍♀️ Identifying as non-binary is one of the greatest actions to take place in my life. It felt like being at home for the first time because it all made sense. I’ve always been non-binary and we’ve always existed. Sharing the vulnerability of becoming and growing can be frightening, but when you do it amplifies the voice of another person sharing the same ideology✨ “Mainstream discourse would have you believe that we are hyper-sensitive "snowflakes" who want attention. The enormity of our struggle is reduced to a single-issue: pronouns. The diversity of our community is collapsed to whiteness.
