All jokes aside this is a very real predicament one will inevitably face on their spiritual journey. When you first experience what is possible beyond the illusion of separation - it’s natural to want to just identify with that expanded sense of self.. however usually people at this point develop a “spiritual ego” where the identity of being ‘spiritual’ is just another means to regulate self-esteem.
The desire to be seen as someone with no ego is INDEED feeding the ego. Our egos are slippery, sneaky & will create all kinds of webs to ensure it’s own survival.
It’s not to say that our ego is bad. Just to raise awareness as to how the ego operates so that you can integrate it and not try to artificially transcend it.. which would create even more division within yourself.
“Walking the spiritual path properly is a very subtle process: it is not something to jump into naively. There are numerous sidetracks which lead to a distorted, ego-centered version of spirituality; we can deceive ourselves into thinking we are developing spirituality when instead we are strengthening our egocentricity through spiritual techniques.” - Chögyam Trungpa
Hope this gave you a giggle and maybe will help you the next time you use your growth as a means to be perceived superior 😘🤍
