A castle-style home tied to retired baseball star Derek Jeter is slated to hit the auction block. The lakefront property, located less than 50 miles from Manhattan, has been on and off the market since June 2018, when it was first listed for $14.75 million. At the auction slated for Dec. 15, the minimum bid on the property will be just $6.5 million, according to Paramount Realty USA, the company handling the auction. The unusual property sits behind a stone wall and has a medieval-looking tower and rooftop battlements. The grounds of the 4-acre estate, which sits on Greenwood Lake, contain a stone waterfall and a replica of the Statue of Liberty, according to Paramount. There is a roughly 9,000 square-foot main house, a lakefront guesthouse and a pool house. A limited liability company tied to Jeter bought the property in the early 2000s, records show. The former Yankees shortstop spent his boyhood summers around the castle, according to the 2011 book, “The Captain: The Journey of Derek Jeter.” Read more at the link in @wsjrealestate’s bio. Photo: Stephen Dolinsky; Adam Hunger/AP (inset)
