🚨Public Service Announcement🚨 It just didn’t sit right in my spirit to post this picture of me in Jackson, MS at the state capitol for the book festival without mentioning what the residents of the city are currently experiencing. The city is now in the thick of a severe water crisis. Residents, predominately Black, have no running water to drink, cook, clean, etc and are even being told to shower with their mouths closed to prevent contamination. It’s bad yall. If you swipe left, there is information about the water crisis and where you can donate. Anything can help. As I come across more information, I will post it in my stories. To be a Black woman standing on the state capitol stairs in Jackson, Mississippi rocking a Mississippi native’s shirt [[shoutout @ablackmanreading]] while reading another renowned Mississippi native’s book [[shoutout @kieselaymon]] is so poetic and powerful to me to know that our ancestors weren’t allowed to do any of this in the South and fought for that right and here I stand with no one stopping me. 💛🌻🔆 #Bookstagram #BlackBookstagram #Bibliophile #HelpJacksonMississippi #BlackGirlsReadToo #PublicServiceAnnouncement #JXNWaterCrisis
