Today we celebrate the birthday of Ettore Bugatti’s eldest son, Jean. He was born just a few months before his father moved the family - Jean's mother and his two elder sisters - to Molsheim to establish his own company. Growing up around fast cars, successful racers and his artist uncle Rembrandt and grandfather Carlo, who was a member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris since 1875, Jean was full of character and charm, quickly becoming the darling of the Paris Haute Volée. His designs were novel and bold, such as the Type 41 Royale Esders and the Type 57 SC Atlantic. At just the tender age of 21, he designed his first automobile, the Type 50, and it went on to sell like hot cakes, which were just as popular back then as they are today. An exquisite water drop shape along the side of the bodywork conveyed the Type 50’s highly elegant silhouette. A further developed version of the car with a streamlined windscreen and a sweeping tail received the epithet Profilée and was the eponym of BUGATTI’s recently presented automotive solitaire – the CHIRON Profilée. It is the very last hyper sports car with the legendary 8.0-liter W16 engine available for sale by the French marque via auctioned by @RMSothebys on 1 February 2023 in Paris.
