I have been collaborating with French textile artist Emmanuelle Premel Cabic @madamesansgene39 to create a unique space called ‘Micro-cellule’ - in a hidden room (in Morlaix) from the 17 century. It continues to be a fascinating journey... Micro-cellule is a space of research and discovery, of listening and feeling. The space remains in conversation with those who choose to spend time alone amongst the sculptures and the ancient architecture. The conversation continues when the visitor leaves the space. They may write, they may talk, they may remain in silence, they may contemplate. Micro-cellule proposes a solo choreography, spatial, temporal and intimate. It invites corporeal connection and collaboration with all who enter alone. It is impossible to capture the essence or nature of the space on film, it is a kinesthetic and empathetic encounter and as such it demands human connection, breath, heartbeat, flesh, presence..... The testimonials of those who visit demonstrate an intimate and often profound encounter with the past and the present: with memory and history, with presence and absence.
