The “north shore”, prior to it being a surfing Mecca, was once, a simple plantation town known as Paumalu, consisting of mostly Hawaiian farmers lineal descendants, and immigrant plantation workers (during the sugar cane era). You could catch a train from Honolulu, to Kahuku. I imagine, the scenery looked a lot like this picture. Now there are mansions, and roads and tourists, and SO many pineapples. But at its core, if you know where to look, Hawaiian spaces still exists on the world famous “north shore”. This is a “tin type” photograph taken by a friend @jstersurf I’ll hold it forever dear.
