The journey towards authentic storytelling takes many steps. We are proud to partner with Aadil Abedi (@aadilabedi), a Muslim visual artist to commemorate Eid al-Adha. Eid is a Muslim holiday - a time to reflect and gain compassion for all walks of life, a celebration of the collective consciousness of humanity and the willingness to sacrifice for the greater good. This year it starts on the evening of July 8th. Aadil created this original painting in our home at the New Amsterdam Theatre that pays homage to our favorite magic lamp, and reimagines it in his own style with the painted words of the beloved 13th century Persian poet, Hafez: "I wish I could show you When you are lonely or in darkness, The astonishing light of your own being” Aladdin on Broadway is proud to be inspired by the Middle Eastern, North African, and South Asian cultures, and the light of those who celebrate Eid.
