Five years ago, while procrastinating for a final, I came up with the #Why25 campaign to decrease the age of candidacy for a MP/MLA to facilate more youth political participation which eventually led to the creation of @youngindiafdn. A few weeks ago, we took one huge step closer to that goal of trying to bring down that age of candidacy. YIF has partnered up with @thebodyshopindia and Sanya Malhotra for a nationwide campaign for greater youth political participation. What does this practically look like? In over 200+ Body Shop locations in India, you can sign our petition, learn more about YIF candidates and our #Why25 campaign, and help us ensure India’s young get a larger voice in politics. We’ll also be conducting voter festivals across the country for the next two years! The 2024 elections in India will have the largest number of eligible youth voters in the world. We need to make sure we do everything to channel or their voices & concerns effectively. And for anyone who thinks your pursuit to bring about change is far too ambitious, remember you dreams are valid and you’re never too young to bring about change.
