A message from our dear friends at @Helpaws. Do you have a PASSION for animals? Are you adventurous & independent enough to temporarily leave creature comforts behind and do something LIFE CHANGING? Are you someone who feels like you’re just going through the motions of life but you’re not where you’re supposed to be? Working in animal welfare is HARD. It takes a certain person to be able to handle the constant pressure & stress of so many innocent lives depending on you. It’s not a 9-5 job. We work long hours in tough conditions. Even when we are “off the clock”, there are often things that need to be taken care of. Being able to manage many things at once is a must. Living in Soufriere is a different experience to what most would be used to. There isn’t much by way of cafés, movie theaters, or shopping malls, and certainly no Starbucks! BUT, there are TONS of waterfalls, nature hikes, & beaches. St. Lucia is a tropical paradise, with scenery & views you will never forget. Our wonderful Operations Manager, Andrea, is nearing the end of her 1-year commitment to HelpAWS. She has been such a positive, dedicated, and vital part of the team, having made a tremendous impact on all of us, as well as the animals she has helped save. We are thankful she will stay involved as a remote volunteer once she returns to Canada. We are actively seeking a new OM, whose duties & responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, planning flights, administering medications, vet runs, organizing export of puppies, giving supportive care to sick animals, training volunteers, working with fundraising and events, admin, communicating with adopters/vets, scheduling appts, upholding cleaning procedures, writing bios/social media posts, & managing the dedicated team we are so lucky to have. Flexibility is a must, as we get thrown curve balls due to unexpected power outages, water shortages, supply chain issues, etc. Due to the importance of this position and the time it takes to train someone, this is a 12 month commitment (minimum), with the opportunity to extend.
