Lake Mead, somewhere between Nevada and Arizona (you should know its levels keep dropping) Since arriving in Vegas all I’ve wanted is a McFlurry [we have our cravings] to coat a belly that has been dried out & scorched by so much sun & too little water to self soothe me After exiting Death Valley in route to Vegas I pull up to a McDonalds wanting ac wanting a break “Miss”, the construction worker calls out “the walk in is closed, you can use the drive thru” I joined then backed out the double drive thru wrapped around Another time to self soothe me In Vegas the line snaked into the road I joined then backed out Another time to self soothe me In Vegas I was too tired to drive further to make a U turn Another time to self soothe me Last day in route back to Vegas from Lake Mead, I detoured to Boulder City sweet sweet success smelling like Lake streaked with mud me & an Oreo McFlurry with an accompaniment of generic pop music in the background to self soothe me. #observationalpoems #on_scapes #lakemead
