I’ve had folks asking recently if I’m available or still on maternity leave and the answer is: both! I’m shooting on a limited scale through the summer as our family continues to adjust to having the new baby. I became aware of Gilliam’s work as a teen visiting the Hirshorn in DC and his draped painting Dakar I was one of my favorite pieces in the collection at the PMA. I was not aware that he was the Brandywine Workshop and Archives’ first artist-in-residence in 1975 and has been a longstanding supporter of BWA, so it was a lovely surprise to see these beautiful works while shooting some of their collection over the past few weeks. He died 2 weeks ago at 88. #samgilliam
