π· Wine comes in an enormous range of colours. But how do you correctly assess the appearance of a wine?
There are two main components, intensity and colour. Intensity refers to how much colour the wine has.
π A pro tip to assess this is to hold the glass at a 45Β° angle and to look through the liquid from above to see how far the colour extends from the core, the deepest part of the bowl, to the rim where there is the shallowest depth of wine.
π For red wines, it can also be assessed by looking down through an upright glass. Look at the point where the stem of the glass is attached to the bowl and assess how easily the stem can be seen.
The spectrum for wine colours is vast. White, red and roseΜ wines are all made from fermented grape juice, but how do they come to be in these distinct colours?
π In this month's #Wine101, we look into the production methods behind these colours. Click on the link in our bio to find out more.
*Please note that these colours are not intended to represent actual wine colours, but to guide your approach to judging appearance.
