Last year, Mae Martin was nominated by BAFTA for their performance in Feel Good. Mae Martin happens to be non-binary, and I am too. One year on and I’ve been nominated for a BAFTA (Trust me, I was verrrry surprised to get that phone call!). When I was in the process of coming out as non-binary, I googled and discovered people like Mae Martin and I realised that it shouldn’t be as scary as I thought it might be. I was still anxious but I had examples of individuals like @kaetempest , a couple of years before, and @hooraymae , last year, carving a path. I guess what I’m trying to say is: try to be brave and be true to the most confident version of yourself, whoever that may be. The more of us who do that, the more those around us will see the beauty in difference. And, hopefully, more of us will be able to stand at our tallest. Thank you @bafta and thank you to those who have supported me on this journey to becoming my tallest, bravest self (Always a work in progress, of course 🙃).
