The days post Lavaredo were filled with doubts, questions, impatience and lots of googling. Once back in Girona I started a battering of blood tests, heart checks and chest scans at my local clinic, everything came back top notch. This was a relief in some aspects but still left me with questions, so my next stop was the specialists @centrecenit because I still had my doubts. Sure enough when we took a prick of blood and looked at it under the microscope you could see those spiky little balls we have all seen on TV floating around. Prognosis is Long Covid, as it seems these guys have been hanging around for some time now I my body and inhibiting me when I push for extended periods, which is why I was struggling in racing versus training. Finally some answers. Now we will start with some treatments, monitoring and the good news is I can keep doing my sports but next races will depend on the progress of clearing out that last of the virus. As athletes we can be very hard on ourselves and demand a lot from our bodies but I would say if you have a feeling that something is just not right it is worth getting checked out and I am happy to share my experience with anyone,just fire me a DM.
