Custom vBowls for Noah! Lately, and I’m sharing this for no good reason but to ramble so please read with a sense of humor, I’m finding it mildly frustrating and perfectly suiting that these shapes just keep getting more complex. when I embarked upon a new midlength design in the height of vBowls orders around 2014, one criteria for me was that it would hopefully be easier to shape than the vb - as I was shaping more and more boards per day I was mildly interested in easing the complexity for myself (I counted once and the average vBowls has over 400 planer passes in it) - unfortunately I stumbled into the ThickLizzy and it’s own set of complexities (clean and crisp edges etc). Another handful of years down the road along comes the FM; again dreaming of simplicity, but the proof is in the pudding... taking some of what’s difficult about both those models, put em together, THEN slap a channel and unique fin templates on it. Great, easy, nailing the whole simplicity thing.... Ha! Now looking back and when I shape vBowls I am thankful for how simple they seem to be compared to its two younger brothers.
