Typhoon Hinnamnor: the first category 5 cyclone of 2022 In the western Pacific Ocean, the path of the storm has been erratic, with winds reaching 260 kilometers (160 miles) per hour on August 30. The potential for landfall is currently unclear. Though the typhoon appeared to be bearing down on Taiwan in the image, it had actually started to turn north and away from the island. Forecasters are indicating that Hinnamnor might head for South Korea or southern Japan in the first week of September. Sea surface temperatures are several degrees above average, which could help sustain and strengthen the storm in the coming days. 📸 Photo taken on September 1, 2022 by Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite. #Typhoon #TropicalCyclone #Hinnamnor #EarthFromSpace ______________ Image Description: A typhoon as seen from space dominates the image as a large, white, puffy, spiral.
