Inspired by the curio boxes, The House Collective mooncake box sets celebrate the happiness, harmony and unity that define Mid-Autumn Festival. Curio boxes – a Chinese tradition in the imperial palace – were nicknamed “the emperor’s toy chest” for the precious antiques they held. In the same spirit, our Houses’ mooncake boxes are your own treasure chests, full of surprises to be discovered. Our sustainable development vision also guided us through the design process. Working with design firm @_editecture_ , we developed “jade” Ping An Kou amulets made up of recycled material created using glass bottles and uniforms from the Houses in a homage to the artefacts that families used to pass peace and safety down generations. Like the Ping An Kou, we hope these mooncake treasure boxes and their message of happiness, harmony and unity will be passed on from one generation to the next.
