Hey Everyone, It felt important for me to underline to the Polaroid community that Instant Photography is our heart and soul, and we will never stop putting it first, even as we are excited to launch other things we love as well. We will continue to work on both the quality of our film and the capabilities of our cameras. We've actually been working hard on something new for a while, an instant camera that can rival the titans of the ‘70s and ‘80s in terms of picture quality. A new camera for i-Type film, with continuous focus optics - coming next year. At the same time I truly believe in the power of Polaroid Music, and that our move into this space is right and exciting. We talked a lot about where we could go next, and music kept popping up throughout our history - first with a sketch we found from the ‘70s, then with my first project at Impossible in 2012, trying (and failing) to put music on a Polaroid photo. Polaroid Music isn't just about bluetooth speakers, it consists of two things: 1. Polaroid Players- four beautiful Bluetooth speakers powered by a unique UX and a dedicated Polaroid Music app, prioritising hands-on interaction and minimising phone usage. 2. Polaroid Radio- a new kind of experimental music platform: five FM-like, artist curated, free, (and ad-free!) sonic worlds. We're new in the music world but intend to learn quickly and bring as much color and freshness to the space as we can. We feel that together, both of these elements let us play with the future of Music in a Polaroid way. I do think it’s important to note that the people who work at Polaroid are just as passionate about instant photography as you are. They're also passionate about giving Polaroid a future beyond it, and another business leg to stand on so we can invest into making better and better products that empower and inspire creativity. We know you’re going to have strong opinions, and we do listen to everything you say, even if we can’t act on all of it.
