Many sunscreen promise not to leave a white cast and when they can’t back up those claims it gets frustrating. Here’s my recommendations to finding a sunscreen that truly is invisible on the skin.
Chemical sunscreens as they are traditionally called tend to be much more cosmetically elegant and do a great job of protecting you from UVA and UVB rays. These are safe to use and because they don’t have zinc or titanium are much less likely to leave any visible residue on the skin.
Some people truly want to use the mineral sunscreens. In this case I would encourage you to try a hybrid sunscreen which uses zinc as well as a chemical filter like octinoxate. Check out the product tag in this post for one such recommendation that I offer to my own patients.
