The campaign for a #FossilFuelTreaty was inspired by treaties that addressed the threats of nuclear weapons, landmines and other dangerous substances. The main cause of the climate emergency is fossil fuels. According to the latest IPCC report, coal, oil and gas are responsible for 86% of all carbon dioxide emissions in the past decade. Over the past year the campaign has been supported by 101 Nobel Laureates,3,000 academics, 320 parliamentarians, thousands of prominent youth leaders, a growing group of faith leaders and more than 1,500 civil society organizations.
