Right before the Mr. Morale album dropped, my homegirl @joihearts asked me if I was hype about the album. When I told her @kendricklamar was “cool” and that I “didn’t really listen to him like that,” she basically threatened to end our friendship. 😆 ⁣ ⁣ When The Heart Part 5 dropped, she sent me the video, then I got it! Something changed for me. I understood the hype, especially after seeing the Kobe and Nipsey tributes. As an LA dude, that hit home, so I started going down a Kendrick rabbit hole, listening to all his older music. ⁣ ⁣ At the same time, I was going down the rabbit hole of all my photos from over the years (as I tend to do) and came across several pics of me at Kendrick concerts and events. I even met him one time (story coming soon). What?! Have I been a fan this whole time?! Crazy. ⁣ ⁣ Fast forward to when I heard the Big Steppers tour would be in LA on my birthday. I knew I had to be there! ⁣Thank You Joi for the ticket! ⁣ Getting a chance to see him live was a full circle moment. Especially when this album has been the soundtrack to the last few months of my life (if you read my posts, you’ve seen the quotes). Not to mention, I was wearing the Carmine Jordan 6’s at the concert (see last post for reference). Another bar. ⁣ ⁣ This birthday was different.
