Posh Sausage Sarnie 🥪 I received a message from @natalie.e.clark to say she was getting some Sainsbury’s Shroomdogs this week (for the first time) and wondered what she should do for them. So this recipe is for you❤️Any other sausages will work a treat, but as you’ll all know Shroomdogs hold a very special place in my heart😂 ▪️INGREDIENTS 2 sausages of choice 1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil 1/2 red onion (sliced) 1 teaspoon brown or Demerara sugar 2 slices of your favourite bread Spicy mayo or condiment of choice (ketchup works too) Rocket leaves or lettuce Sliced tomato Pinch of salt ▪️METHOD 1. Begin by cooking your sausages as per instructions. If using shroomdogs in the oven is best in my opinion. Or grill function on the Ninja Foodi for 10 minutes. 2. Meanwhile heat a pan on a medium-high heat and add the oil. Once hot add the onion and cook for a few minutes until it starts to soften. Then add the sugar, combine and leave to caramelise stirring every few minutes. 3. After about 6-8 minutes they should be nice and juicy. 4. If wanting to heat up the bread, either toast it or remove the onions from the pan and place the bread in and heat on both sides for a couple of minutes. 5. Spread some mayo or ketchup on both sides of the bread, then add rocket/lettuce and sliced tomato. 6. Add a pinch of salt on the tomatoes, then slice the cooked sausages and add those too. 7. Top with the caramelised onions and remaining slice of bread. Slice and DEVOUR.
