Knafeh rolls- one of the first Palestinian desserts I learned how to make when I first started baking. This is a photo of my first attempt, which I was so proud of, because I was certain it would go all wrong. It wasn’t na’ameh (my favorite kind) but it was a start, and it turned out great!
I am very proud of what I do, both on this page & in my real life. I love feeling connected to my culture, especially through food. Being Palestinian & Salvadoran, there’s lots of culture to go around, and if you’ve been following me since I was @/hungrydre, then you’ve seen me do it all.
I typically don’t post anything except food here, but this time, I feel that it’s my responsibility to speak out. Every time I open my phone, I am met with images of the worst things you can think of. Children being amputated on without anesthetic. Mothers holding their dead children in their arms. Fathers pulling pieces of buildings off their loved ones. You have to have seen it yourself by now too. I wanted to talk about it here because it is the reason I haven’t been on here. With that being said, I have something very special coming for my next 2 events 🇵🇸 In the meantime though, please call your state representatives for a ceasefire, and take a few minutes to learn about Palestine (you can check out the tagged accounts!) Not only is it important historically but it is full of beautiful people with a vibrant and jovial culture. We don’t deserve to be remembered as corpses splayed out for everyone to see on the Internet. We deserve life, freedom, happiness. #freepalestine
