The last time I woke up before 9am on a weekend was.....who knows when. But my eyeballs 👀 popped open at 5 and I’ve been jotting 🧠 🤮 since. I keep thinking about all the memes I see about “July 4th is cancelled THIS year”- I get it. What has happened in the past 3 weeks is not surprising but it’s still a shock to the system. But also... this isn’t new. What have we been celebrating, year after year? Our liberation from an imperial power? We ARE an imperial power. From our inception we have terrorized people who live on this land and moved like our British Colonial forefathers abroad. Today, I’ll be out with my feet in grass. Not celebrating “freedom” but celebrating the community of friends that keep me sane in this wild wild world. Per usual these slides are not exactly linear thoughts, not exactly nebulous either. I’ve been reading a lot of non linear sci-fi lately and *attempting* to emulate some of that style. WIP, obviously. PS- I thought this background was a festive way to lessen “grinch mode.” Nothing says AMERICA like a bunch of fire in the sky. PPS I know there’s a bunch of typos.
