Happy International Dog day 🐾 A day to celebrate our amazing companions, a day to love and support every dog breed and more importantly to show off our beloved four legged friends right?😍❤️ August 26th marks a day of significance, this day was created back in 2004 by animal welfare activist Colleen Paige. The day is aimed to of course support all breeds and varieties of dogs but with special emphasis on discouraging people from purchasing dogs from unethical breeders and puppy farms. As many of you, international dog day has a close place in my heart but one of the main reasons is Fitz. I rescued him this year from @hoperescuewales after he was saved from a puppy farm. If it wasn’t for the amazing work of Hope, who knows where Fitz would be today. Instead now he has had a second chance at life and as you can see alongside Indie, they spend their days getting enrichment out of exploring the whole of the UK’s beauty spots with us and I couldn’t imagine it any other way. They make every adventure that much more fulfilling ❤️ As well as encouraging to not purchase a dog from puppy farms, National dog day is against any kind of dog breed ban. Dogs all around the world put their lives on the line every single day from law enforcement, to being an aid for the disabled to even detecting bombs and saving victims from wreckages.. something humans wouldn’t even dream of doing themselves. Dogs should be celebrated and appreciated, not forced to endure at the hands of a man. Indie and Fitz are my best friends and I would encourage anyone if they ever had a chance to have a dog in their life (if practical) to do so, DO IT! However, emphasis on how vital it is to educate yourself before considering becoming a dog mum/dad/parent as a dog is for life and all they want is to love you and be loved back but without doing prior research can result in unwanted dogs. Lots of licks, tail wags and belly strokes on International dog day guys 🐾🤗
