New image sonification of a starburst galaxy for @nasahubble! Welcome to one of the most active galaxies in our cosmic neighborhood, NGC 1569!This starburst galaxy creates stars at a rate 100 times faster than in our own galaxy, the Milky Way! To represent the information in this Hubble image through sound we scanned it from bottom to top and mapped brighter light to higher pitches and greater volumes. We separated the three color channels used to create the image and mapped them to their own pitch range, with red in lower pitches, green in medium pitches, and blue in high pitches. We also added a little pink noise for the white regions which have the most intense star formation. Ok good speakers you should be able to hear that dangling red filament on the right headphone and the brightest stars should really burst as flurries of notes. Credits: @SYSTEMSounds (M. Russo, A.
