What exactly does it all mean? What does it mean to have the very first live fashion show with Made in Italy designers, all hailing from migratory backgrounds, held just hours away from an election that could quite possibly signal a national disruption? It is a sign of presence. WAMI, We Are Made in Italy, represents so much more than clothing and design. It is proof that multicultural Italy exists. We've been here and will remain here. We work and contribute to the economy. We don’t want to be afraid, because we’ve decided to trust our country. We are clutching to the belief that when it comes to civil rights and humanity, we are all a part of the same party, the one on the right side of history. It is a story of active social awareness that has now elevated to a system. But for now, we'll take it step by step, and tell you the story of last Friday night, one that will be remain imprinted on many of our lives. In this first post, we invite you to get to know the 'Fab Five' WAMI designers: - Phan Dan Hoang: @_phandanghoang_ - Akila Steward : @hifatra /Bags -Kim Gauen: @wwwvillain - Neha Poorswani: @nehapoorswani /shoes - Eileen Akbaraly: @madeforawoman We thank the ambassadors of multicultural Italy, who made the decision to support the underrepresented voices of Made in Italy by taking trains and planes to arrive to Milan on Friday. Thanks to their immense generosity, we were able to make this dream come true. @marilena_delli_umuhoza @emanuela_scirea_soprano @maishagrispino @miss_humanroot @soy_didy @nneya @allisonfullin @just_solenab @fra_sma @hildaglosh @c_kari Along with @edward_l_buchanan and @michellengonmo , we are excited to tell you more about each of the WAMI designers as well as their angel ambassadors on our @wearemadeinitaly /WAMI’spage starting tomorrow.
