Partition: 75 years. My grandfather was 4 years old when him and his family crossed the border by foot into Pakistan.
Topics such as the partition is rarely discussed, it’s a difficult conversation with so much trauma, and so many of us have had to learn this through generational trauma, where our grandparents experienced such a horrific time claiming nearly over 2 million lives.
Over 2 million lives lost because of the British and their ideologies
This first picture is of my grandfather (mums dad) in his 20’s. I never got the chance to meet him, he passed in November 95’ I was born March 96’.
His legacy remains and I hear so many stories about him all the time. He was a politician, a member of the Pakistan’s peoples party, and general secretary to Azad Kashmir. 🇵🇰
The second picture is my great grandfather (his dad, my mums grandfather) he was also one of a kind, a recruiter for the British army in India 🇬🇧🇮🇳 - He migrated to Pakistan during the partition.
All the love to my Pakistani, Indian and Bangladesh people, where our independence from the British can be celebrated, it’s also important to continue these stories and keep our hearts open. These stories can’t be erased.
I’m Kashmiri and very proud to be. Stories of the partition is a difficult one, but it’s important we speak about it, continue the voices of our grandparents and beyond
