Sharing some traditional food from my Teochew culture. My mom used to make these red peach-shaped dumplings (红桃粿) for Lunar New Year when I was kid and just started it up again today. (Peaches are a symbol of longevity.) They’re savory dumplings filed with a sticky rice mixture that’s stir-fried like fried rice with Chinese sausages, marinated shiitake mushrooms, pickled radishes, dried shrimp, scallions, and lots of garlic. The dough is usually pink to mimic the color of peaches and put into a mold, then steamed, brushed with oil, and sometimes pan-fried after too. 🍑 🥟 So beautiful!
