The first week blur of life with a newborn and a toddler... It’s pretty miraculous how a phase of time can encapsulate moments of extreme joy and extreme exhaustion simultaneously. Watching Hollynd meet Ryker was pretty magical. After months of “baby-brother-belly-button,” seeing the wheels turn as she gazed down at his little body and then at my deflated abdomen was fascinating. And my heart almost burst with happiness when the first thing she said was, “hold him”. Such sweet daytime moments. Then come the nights. Ryker solidly has his days and nights confused. I know we’ll/he’ll figure it out eventually, but if anyone has been there and has advice, I’m all ears. What I endeavor to do, throughout the next sleep deprived weeks and beyond, is always appreciate the tender moments. Cuddles, naps, diaper changes, feedings, naps, walks, laughs, tears...
