“Please wash your hands!”
.
.
Public health experts and doctors around the world are stressing how vital it is for everyone to wash their hands thoroughly and frequently to stay healthy and to stop the spread of the coronavirus. This now global directive reminded us of two innovative industrial designers who came up with an ingenious device to encourage young children to wash their hands.
.
.
Even before COVID-19, 1.5 million children under the age of five died every year of infectious diseases. Half of these illnesses could be prevented with regular handwashing.
.
.
To address the problem, Amanat Anand and Shubham Issar developed SoaPen, a magic marker pen that acts as a soap dispenser. Kids use it to draw on their hands and then wash them clean with its colorful soap.
.
.
Amanat and Shubam presented the Soapen on our 2019 stage. With handwashing now more critical than ever, we again salute them for their creativity and problem-solving. You can watch their full conversation via video link in bio by searching Amanat Anand or Shubham Issar. 🎥
