How far would you go for the things you love?
While living abroad gave me a sense of direction and purpose, the thought of returning home became increasingly more daunting. I find myself comparing the person I am today to the person I was 2 years ago. What have I accomplished? Was it meaningful to me? Am I proud of the person I became? These questions are thought provoking.
From what I’ve learnt, feelings of discomfort towards this line of questions is a good indication that it’s time to start reflecting and reevaluating. The majority secretly detest this because they think they should come up with world changing ideas, hell no.
You should strive to accomplish nothing less than what really matters to YOU. I truly believe unhappiness in society is birthed from conforming to the world around us and not doing what we as individuals want to do. We opt for settling because it’s easier but in reality we wish to wander and conceptualize our true-hearted passions.
What’s stopping you from taking a change of direction? Fear of what others will think? Trust me, nobody cares about you more than they care about themselves. The unknown can provide more opportunity for growth and development than the known place could ever.
I left because I felt lost and thought I’d find answers on the road. But what if I came back with more questions than ever? What if leaving actually led to understanding that what I wanted was right in front of me all along.
