At long last, the process I used to clean my old wool rug. All in all this process takes patience and persistence. I used this fragrance free eco laundry detergent, but if you have woolite that would be preferred. Additionally, I used much more of the solution than I needed which is why I can’t stress enough only put in what you plan to use because I had to figure out a way to dump the rest. My estimated amount would be 2-4 table spoons to about 4-6 cups of water. Take your best guess given then amount and size of rugs you need to do. Use a universal or size 40 nozzle if possible. If your rug feels crunchy after drying, use a clean bristle brush to brush it out. Then vacuum to collect loose hairs. This process has worked well for us, but if you have a very high quality rug and are concerned about any damage it is always best to seek a professional.
