I got a little story for you Ags ;) Camp Monty: little did I know God had a plan in store for this camp. It started back in 2022 when I got a beaded bracelet kit it had all the colors of the rainbow. I made a bunch of bracelets that day and made one lime green bracelet that said “Monty”. Some of you may not know but this was the nickname me and my mom had over the years. My mom is the definition of what it means to embody the Aggie spirit. She never had the opportunity to go to Fish Camp. As a freshman during my camp fire speech I spoke on my moms behalf because I knew how much it meant to her, it being one of her biggest regrets never going. After really getting to dive into this organization after being a freshman and first year counselor I knew she was meant to be a namesake, so I nominated her and she got lime camp. Here is something from her application that I wrote: “My mom’s love for this university radiates and I know it will radiate to the incoming freshman. She will support and love the freshmen always and be their biggest supporter and advocate. My mother is known for her positive attitude, and I know she will do this so well at Lakeview with anything that comes her way. Fish Camp is all about traditions and I know she will share this with her campers. She will share how Texas A&M traditions have impacted her life in hopes of the freshman feeling the Aggie Spirit. I know my mother will selflessly serve the freshmen and counselors and show them what makes this university different from any other!” I can confidently say that my mother did this with the freshman and I could not be more proud of her and the everlasting impact she made on them! This is the end of my Fish Camp Era. I couldn’t possibly think of better way to end it than watching my mother impact the class of 2028 as she has done for me my entire life making me the person I am today. My dream was to always become a fish camp counselor and I couldn’t be more grateful and blessed for what this organization has given me and taught me. Your Aggie Family starts with your camp family. My favorite memories made at this university was in Fish Camp, may the tradition live on! WHOOP🩵💛💜💚
