Reposted from @thelegendsofmusic The Jimi Hendrix Experience performing “Voodoo Child (Slight Return)” on the 9th of January, 1969 live in Stockholm, Sweden About “Voodoo Child (Slight Return)” by Jimi Hendrix: According to the book, “Ultimate Hendrix” by John McDermott, Eddie Kramer & Billy Cox, the origins of the "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" can be dated to a studio jam that took place on the 2nd of May, 1968. The musicians present during this studio session featured Jimi Hendrix on guitar, Steve Winwood on organ and Jack Casady (from the Jefferson Airplane) on bass. The very next day, Jimi Hendrix returned to the studio with Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding for the filming of a short documentary by ABC television. Bassist, Noel Redding explained , "We learned that song in the studio ... They had the cameras rolling on us as we played it". Hendrix emphasized on this incident saying: “Someone was filming when we started doing [Voodoo Child]. We did that about three times because they wanted to film us in the studio, to make us—'Make it look like you're recording, boys'—one of them scenes, you know, so, 'OK, let's play this in E, a-one, a-two, a-three', and then we went into ‘Voodoo Child (Slight Return)’. #Music #RockNRoll #TheJimiHendrixExperience #JimiHendrix #NoelRedding #MitchMitchell iiii]; )'
