Is GOLF the best game ever created? I think so and here’s one reason why... @jayceeoh and I met earlier this year at Waste Management through our mutual friend @coloradogolfblog. Lee knows I keep my inner circle of friends tight, so when he said “you gotta meet this guy” I made it happen. The night I met Jake I had a screening of “Detour.” I knew of his background in music and valued his opinion as a world renowned artist. We talked for hours that night about our work and lives as creatives. We had an instant connection. Fast forward 3 months later- we’ve played golf so many times I’ve lost track, we’ve traveled to far off places because one of us thought it was a good idea, we’ve attended events together, hung out in green room or two, collaborated on projects, given each other advice and have genuinely supported one another in so many ways. One night over dinner at his restaurant @gorillapies, we discovered our birthdays are the same week. We immediately decided a golf trip was in order to celebrate. We talked about golf destinations near and far. I demanded we take a road trip in the van. I said I’d handle all the logistics. Weeks went by and he constantly asked me questions about our trip, the plan, the courses, the itinerary. One week out I could tell he was getting nervous so simply responded “there won’t be a plan but I promise it will be dope.” Most people don’t understand how I operate this way until they experience it firsthand. “We’re not going on a trip. I’m taking you on a journey.” DAY 1 RECAP: -8am Matt depart Rams Hill for LA (4 hours) -Unload van in LA (make room for Jake gear) -Pickup Jake at his house in LA -Aebleskivers (🎂) in Solvang -Golf pitstop at Morro Bay Golf Course -Feed the man -Finish drive to Carmel (2 1/2 hours) -12:30am Arrive @malbongolf AirBNB in Carmel
