Excerpt of Gina X - “Drive My Car” on Zting in 1985.
The song was produced by Zeus B. Held, whom Gina Kikoine would work with as Gina X Performance - a German arthouse electro-disco project from Cologne consisting of the two.
Gina X Performance released four studio albums in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and were frequently played in North American and European dance clubs at the height of their popularity. Their best-known songs are "No G.D.M." (covered by Erasure as the B-side to their single "Blue Savannah"), and "Nice Mover".
According to the liner notes of their 1978 song Nice Mover - which is one of my favorites - their synth list is impressive and what you might expect for the late 1970s, including the Minimoog, Polymoog, ARP 2600, ARP String Ensemble, ARP Sequencer, and Sennheiser Vocoder.
