THE UNITED NATIONS 😭🇺🇳📍Guys, I’m so excited to announce my biggest role yet, something that’s been on the vision board for YEARS! 😭👏🏾 I’m happy to share that I’ve been appointed as a Young Leader for the Sustainable Development Goals by the UNITED NATIONS !!!! for the next 2 years. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾chosen out of 5,400 young people, from 190 countries, 🇺🇳📍👏🏾 - This is a position that I’ll hold with the UN Office of the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth, from 2022-2024. The UN choose 17 young people every TWO years. This year we were chosen from over 5,400 young people in 190 countries and for some reason I was one of them😭😭😭😭. I’ve also just learnt that I’m the only person in the U.K. and in wider Europe that was chosen this year. Woahhhhhhh. (But of course I’ll also represent Zim too no matter what!) The news will be announced today in New York, during the 77th General Assembly at the United Nations which is so crazyyyy. I can’t believe it! During my time as a Young Leader, 😫 I’ll work closely with the UN to amplify the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, involve more youth in strategy for change and amplify their voices. My personal focus of course will be goal 4. Quality Education & 5. Gender Equality. I’m extremely honoured to have such an impactful role and will of course do everything I can to represent the voice of youth in my community and beyond, while also not being afraid to demand change and accountability from the UN too! Just like I did at Oxford! You can both respect an organisation, while also challenging it to be better and to listen to the voices of young people.
