'The Origin Of A New World' the portrait of Trans artist @fatfemme in collaboration with the amazing @xavierscottmarshall . In 2021 @showstudio and @nick_knight invited me to contribute to 'BODIES OF KNOWLEDGE ', a project spearheaded and curated by @emmadabiri , the project [currently on show @showstudio - link in bio] has 50 Black creatives from @ibkamara to @frankdorrey creating a new constellation of knowledge systems in response to body parts of physical and metaphysical nature. For my contribution, the keyword was THIGHS. Xavier and myself wanted to (queer) turn the idea of 'origin' ( from #gustavecourbet ‘s painting to the caves known as the Cradle Of Humankind located in South Africa near my home) and fertility on its head and implore our viewers to rethink their relationships to white supremacist capitalistic patriarchal artworks, traditions and institutions. To remind the viewer that (black) trans women are the source of a new (Non-Binary) world, if only we could let go of hate and racial prejudice and operate from a place of love and care.
