I’ll be home for quismoose...
Wait! Where’s home? Earlier this week, Mount Rainier National Park recorded its first-ever MOOSE sighting! This is also the first moose sighting in Southwest Washington. Home for most of Washington’s moose population is in the Selkirk Mountains (Pend Oreille, Stevens, Ferry, and Spokane counties) with smaller populations in the north Cascades, Okanogan, and Blue Mountains. Generally, moose prefer forested habitats with lakes, marshes and other wetlands. While we may not know the reason the moose decided to head to @mountrainiernps, it’s likely to find the national park has everything it needs to call home.
If you do see a moose, don’t approach. Even if moose seem quiet and gentle, their mood can change quickly, especially if you ask them to pull a rabbit out of their hat.
