An entrepreneur who saw the promise of virtual and mobile-phone based healthcare early is Ting Shih, who was given the challenge of creating a social enterprise that could impact over a billion people when she was a student at MIT.

That’s how her company, ClickMedix, was born. Ting created a mobile-based healthcare service to give people in developing countries access to doctors and to drive down the cost of healthcare.

ClickMedix has since benefitted more than half a million people in 21 countries. “I envision a world where everyone—regardless of income, gender, race, or social status—has easy ‘one-click’ access to effective healthcare,” Ting says.
