been thinking a lot about Virgil these last few days, not just because of the kaleidoscopic new clothes and the majestic show today, but because I find myself ever conscious of his absence in this space. the personal-touch humanity, the bounteous knowledge, the sense of restless awe - those are gifts that are tough to replace, and which maybe never will be. but it’s moving seeing so many people work so hard to cement his legacy, and also ferrying pieces of his inspiration out into the world to create so many graceful, inventive, inspiring and healing distributaries. I also got the new GQ in the mail today, and wanted to share this old story that Will rescued from our collective mental dustbins for his editor’s letter.
