Tokyo’s Showa-Era Kissaten ☕️🕰️🪵 Opened in 1975, this cafe is a quiet time capsule tucked away in Nishi-Ogikubo. Inside, the wooden walls are lined with antique clocks, all still ticking. At the center of the room is a real irori hearth, with a kettle hanging overhead from a traditional hook—just like old Japanese homes. There’s soft jazz in the background. Now run by the second-generation owner, the café has been preserved almost exactly as it was decades ago. The owner is reserved but very kind, letting the space speak for itself.
