Thank you house. This is where our kids rinsed off the salt and sand as they grew from toddlers to twenty one. It is where my mom trimmed hydrangeas and roses. Where wiffle and volleyball games were played. It is where we gathered with friends to eat summer tomatoes and burrata, chase the dogs in the yard, break birthday piñatas. From its porches we watched the sun rise early over the ocean and set in the fields. It offered a spectacular starry sky and enormous full moons. It was our haven during Covid months where we held graduations and birthdays and for a moment the kitchen became a donut factory. It is where I sat on a sofa one summer with my kids curled around me and read Treasure Island out loud in the soft salty air. I’m taking the people and the memories with me but this was a good house.
