#35years35things Year: 2006 Beyond the Beyond: The Gay FutureWorld! was a comedic spectacle devised and performed by a group of gay youth and seniors at the Los Angeles LGBT Center, under the direction of puppeteer/performance artist Paul Zaloom and ensemble designer Lynn Jeffries. For this goofy speculation about a gay world of the future, the drab black box theater was transformed into a groovy time machine where audience members were issued lengths of tinsel to use as seat belts for their journey. To allow more room for passengers, the tech booth was placed on stage, and the stage manager and board op were costumed in shiny futuristic splendor for the magnificently queer voyage.
