The realities of training with a toddler. One minute they are kissing you in appreciation (the second photo-- a lovely motivator), and the next they are fussing because you aren't going fast enough (it’s an even more effective motivator- check out my IG story). Almost four weeks post delivery I felt ready to tie up my shoes and hit the trail again. When Hollynd was born I would carve out some time in the day when she was napping to hand her off and steal away to train. This time around I have a toddler in addition to a newborn. The sage old adage of, "sleep when the baby sleeps," does not apply. When baby Ryker sleeps soundly in the middle of the day it is my treasured time to connect with Holly, just the two of us. It also happens to be my window to get out and push my body. I explained to Holly she is going to be my training buddy. She doesn’t really understand, but she likes the novelty, snacks, and high fives that are a big part of "Mommy and Munchie (her nickname) Adventures"-- what I call taking her along with me on runs, hikes, or even into our makeshift weight room in the basement. It is sometimes a challenge, but always rewarding. We share some special bonding time while I push my limits. Gone are the days of super regimented workouts, monitoring every marker, but in its stead is something so much richer. And with 28 pounds added to most movements, I might just be in the best shape of my life come winter!? At the very least, it will be the most fun pre-season training of my life. ❤️ #Motherhood #Training #AthleteMom #MomAthlete #Love #WinterIsComing #HellyHansen @hellyhansen #WithoutCompromise @athleticbrewing #JustLikeThat #beUTAHful
