Ten high school girls were injured and hospitalized, and seven were arrested after state security forces attacked a gathering by girls at Shahed High School in Ardabil (northwest Iran), according to a statement by the Iranian Teachers Trade Unions Coordination Council published on Telegram on October 14, 2022. Dozens of children have been killed since state security forces began lethally repressing protests that broke out and which have been ongoing in Iran since September 16. The arrests and interrogations of school children accused of joining nationwide protests in Iran and their detention in so-called “psychological centers” has raised fears of more child killings, according to the Center for Human Rights in Iran (CHRI). CHRI warns of the serious potential for more violence and bloodshed tomorrow when protests are expected to resume.
