I’ve had quite a few epic mornings in my day and this one definitely joins those ranks. Getting up at 3:45 to hike within 300m of an active volcano for sunrise is once in a life time thing. It didn’t happen to us but the guide said that if we hear a big explosion that we need to be ready to run as we were within the range of falling debris. Also, having a cloud inversion that morning was just icing on the cake.
