The last few days have been deeply surreal since receiving the tragic news of Ken’s death. So many memories have raced through my mind as I peel back the years, and reflect on the time he had together. A journey that started in 1990 with the creation of our first brand Eightball, followed by Droors, Dub, Blunt, and DC Shoes within a four year timespan. Losing Ken has been like losing a part of myself. The chapters we wrote together forged the foundation of our lives, transitioning us from inexperienced kids full of idealistic fervor to tear down mediocrity, to adults bearing the battle scars of experience spanning the decades with a precisely honed views of the domains we enter and the ideas we bring. He was a both a partner and teacher, giving me his best over our years of co-creation and collaboration, as we chased big ideas, and white space opportunity, to rewrite industry norms and shape histories. The dent in the universe left in his wake will reverberate for a millennia, leaving us with a legacy to learn from and lead with.
